Starlight is a song from the 2006 album Black Holes & Revelations. It was released as the second single from the album on CD, 7" vinyl and DVD on 4th September 2006. The CD single was released with the B-side Easily.
Overview[]
According to Wolstenholme, "Starlight" is "kind of a love song about missing someone, friends, family, someone you love".
Musical style[]
It is in the key of B major. First described as "a souped-up cousin of the Strokes' 12:51".
The clapping at the beginning of "Starlight" can be written as "— ·· — ···" in Morse code, which spells out "TITS"
Live performance[]
Starlight is played live in either B flat major or A major, instead of the recorded B.
Starting in 2006, performances of Starlight have been dedicated to a section of the audience, such as those at the back or top.
Alternative versions[]
An alternative mix of Starlight, known as the "New Mix, "Radio Mix" or "Radio Version" was distributed on promotional media only. This version was presumably created to give the song a sound more suitable for radio broadcast.
