Rocket Baby Dolls was the name Matthew Bellamy, Dominic Howard and Christopher Wolstenholme used for their first ever gig at the Teignmouth Broadmeadow Sports Centre in February 1994, where they played various original grunge compositions, as well as a cover of Tourette's by Nirvana.

In 2006, Bellamy noted during an interview that the name came from "some dodgy Japanese porn film".
