United States of Eurasia (unofficially abbreviated to USofE) is the 4th track on Muse's fifth album The Resistance, and is available as a free download from

The song was revealed in parts from a worldwide search. USB drives were hidden in various cities, with clues provided for fans to find them. When found, the next section of the song was available to listen to on the microsite.

It is a characteristically epic song, influenced both by eastern-european music and distinctive Queen riffs.

Dom commented that it would be suitable for a James Bond movie [1].

Collateral Damage is the extended ending of the song. It features an altered version of Chopin's Nocturne Op.9 No.2 in Eb; along with ambient sounds of children laughing and ending with a jet fighter. This, along with the title, highlights the innocent victims of war, and its and unintended but predictable consequences.

The intro to USofE was played before Sunburn at the Grand Prairie Nokia Theater gig in Texas in 2007.

United States of Eurasia Lyrics

You and me are the same
We don't know or care who's to blame
But we know that whoever holds the reigns
Nothing will change
Our cause has gone insane

And these wars they can't be won
And these wars they can't be won
Do you want them to go on and on and on?
Why split these states
When there can be only one?

And must we do as we're told?
Must still do as we're told?

You and me fall in line
To be punished for unproven crimes
And we know that there's no one we can trust
Our ancient heroes
They are turning to dust

And these wars they cant be won
Does anyone know or care how they begun?
They just promise to go on and on and on
But soon we will see
There can be only one
